Kristina Mkhitaryan (Soprano)

Biography

Kristina Mkhitaryan was born in Novorossyisk. She graduated from the Galina Vishnevskaya Theatre Studio in Moscow in 2004. In 2004-08 she studied with Ruzanna Lisician in the Gnesin Music College. After graduation she continued her studies at the vocal faculty of the Russian Gnesin Academy of Music. From 2009 to 2012 she was a soloist of the Gnesin opera studio where she sang Lauretta in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Musetta in Puccini’s La Boheme and Norina in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale.

In 2001-02 she toured in Spain and Germany with the Galina Vishnevskaya Theatre Studio where she sang selected arias of Carmen, Dido, Volkhova and Violetta. In September 2011 she sang at the Festival “Peregrinos Musicales” in Spain, Santiago de Compostela. 
Since October 2012 she has been a member of the Young Artist Program of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia. 
In February 2013 she made her debut with The Moscow Soloists orchestra in Sochi, Russia, conducted by Yuri Bashmet. 

Prizes Kristina Mkhitaryan has won include 2nd prize at the National Vocal Competition Silver Voice and a diploma at the Contest of Young Performers of Russian Romance Romansiada in 2004, 1st prize at the International Student Competition Bella Voce and a diploma at the 24th International Glinka Vocal Competition in 2011, 3rd prize at the 49th International Singing Contest Francisco Vinas and 2nd prize at the National Obukhova Singing Competition in 2012. In 2013 she won the Queen Sonja International Music Competition in Norway and was awarded 3rd prize at the Neue Stimmen Competition in Germany.
