Maria Gavrilova (Soprano)

Biography
Born in Chelyabinsk. Graduated from Chelyabinsk Musical College (class of her father, German Gavrilov). Then graduated form Moscow State Conservatory (class of professor Irina Maslennikova). In 1990, being a student, joined the opera cast of the Bolshoi Theatre. Made her debut at the Bolshoi as Oxana (Rimsky-Korsakov's Christmas Eve).

Tours in USA, Europe and Japan. In 2002, she sang the title role in Madama Butterfly at the Florida Grand Opera and at the New York City Opera. In the same year, she participated in the production of The Queen of Spades in Opera Royal de Wallonie in Liege performing the role of Liza. In 2003, she sang Maddalena (Giordano's Andrea Chenier) at the Virginia Opera, Madama Butterfly at the Michigan Opera Theatre, Liza (The Queen of Spades) at the Hungarian State Opera. In 2005, she appeared as Amelia (Un Ballo in Maschera) at the Florida Grand Opera. She performed the title part in Madama Butterfly at the Hamburg State Opera. In 2006, she took part in the performances of Fidelio and Otello at the Finnish National Opera. In the same year, she sang Zemfira in a concert performance of Rakhmaninov's Aleko in Salle Pleyel (Paris, conductor Vladimir Fedoseyev). In 2007, she appeared at the Metropoliitan Opera singing the title role in Madama Butterfly.
