Martin Shlepfer
Born in Alshtetene in Switzerland. Originally trained in dance from Marianne Fuchs in St. Gallen (Switzerland). In 1977 he was awarded the Prix de Lausanne competition (Prix de Lausanne), and then continued his studies at the Royal Ballet School in London under Terry Westmoreland and Marion Lane.
In 1978 he was admitted to the Basel Ballet under the direction of Heinz Spoerli. Many works Spoerli specially processed for Martin Shlepfera, which quickly grew into one of the leading dancers of the troupe. On its technical equipment and artistic appearance strongly influenced teacher Peter Appel. In 1983 Shlepfer comes to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet (Canada) as a soloist. A year later returned to Basel. Later he studied with Annie Uliams, Gelsi Kirkland and David Howard.
In 1980 he founded and headed the ballet school Dance Place in Basel. In 1994-1999 he was the artistic director and chief choreographer of Ballet Bern (Switzerland). From 1999 to 2009 - artistic director and chief choreographer of Ballet Mainz (Germany), which after the first season won the excellent international reputation and it became one of the most important ballet companies in Germany. Since 2009, he has headed Ballet am Rhein DЁ№sseldorf Duisburg. In recent years, has been repeatedly nominated and won prestigious awards, including the Prix Benois de la Danse, the German theater prize Faust and others.
