Annual Christmas Festival of Sacred Music offers traditional performances of the Moscow Synodal Choir - one of the oldest professional choirs in Russia. The team, created at the beginning of the XVIII century, in 1919, ceased to exist, and only 90 years later began work on its revival, received the blessing of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill. Center for the revival of the collective became the temple "All the Afflicted" in Bolshaya Ordynka. Rector Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, along with Vladimir Spivakov took over the artistic direction of the Christmas Festival at the House of Music.
His Eminence will perform before the concert with welcoming remarks, while the second part will appear as a conductor at the control chamber orchestra "Moscow Virtuosi". Under his direction, sound famous cantata «Stabat Mater» Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. The expressive soprano and viola duo brought a guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theater Svetlana Kasian and soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre Agunda Kulaeva. The program of the first branch amounted choral concerts Dmitry Bortniansky - masterpieces of the golden age of choral music a cappella. Bortnyansky left more than 100 works for the choir, including 35 choral concerts.
