Konstantin Lifshits (Piano soloist)

Konstantin Lifschitz, piano, was born in the Ukraine in December 1976 and studied the piano with his mother from the age of four. The following year he entered Moscow‘s Gnessin School of Music. In Moscow he was invited to perform with Vladimir Spivakov and the Moscow Virtuosi, and in 1991 he toured with them to Japan. He has since appeared with the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, with I Solisti Veneti, and last season with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra at the Munich Gasteig. In 1995/6 he performed with the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, and in Spring 1997 he toured Europe with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1999 he made his debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He has collaborated with conductor James Bolle as a concerto soloist, twice with the New Hampshire Symphony Orchestra, and in January 2002 when he made his Boston-area debut with Bolle and the Monadnock Festival Orchestra in a special concert at Sanders Theater in Cambridge. As a recitalist Konstantin Lifschitz has appeared in London, Paris, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Madrid, Milan, Rome, Tokyo, Moscow, Zurich, St. Petersburg, Montreal, and the US. He made his New York City recital debut in fall of 2002 and debuted as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra in Spring of 2003. In chamber music he has appeared with Gidon Kremer and Mischa Maisky in Paris, Vienna, Madrid and Lisbon, and with Lynn Harrell in Europe, and with Mtislav Rostropovich in New York City. He has recorded recitals of works by Rachmaninov, Schubert, Scriabin, Bach‘s Goldberg Variations, and the Mozart Piano Concertos #21 and #27 with Bolle and the Monadnock Music Orchestra. His fourth recital disc, of works by Rachmaninov and Scriabin, was released in August 1997.
