Lev Kontorovich (Artistic Director)

Honored Artist of Russia, Professor
Z. Lev Kontorovich was born in 1947 in Moscow. In 1964 he graduated from the Moscow State Choir College. A.V.Sveshnikova, in 1969 - the Moscow Conservatory (professor of choral conducting. CB Birds). Also engaged in symphony conducting LM Ginsburg and instrumentation have A.G.Shnitke.

At the end of the conservatory L.Z.Kontorovich returned to the school teacher of special disciplines and conductor of the choir boys, and in 1992. appointed to the Chair of the Academy of Choral Conducting Choral Art. Since 1996 - Professor of the Moscow Conservatory.

Among his pupils - known soloists, choir conductor, choirmaster, successfully operating in Russia and abroad. In 1997, the Chamber Choir L.Kontorovich created "Spiritual Revival" of the Moscow State Institute of Music named after Alfred Schnittke. The repertoire L.Kontorovicha and led them choirs - dozens of concert programs, including large and small works of the various eras and styles, spiritual music of the Archangel, Bortniansky, Berezovsky, Rachmaninov, Chesnokov and pieces by Glinka, Balakirev, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Sviridov, Sveshnikov , composers and choral school graduates Agafonnikov, Boyko Kikta, Flyarkovsky, Shchedrin, Yevgrafov Dianova. Over recent years a number of major L.Kontorovichem prepared compositions: Mass in B Minor and "St. John Passion" by JS Bach, "Gloria" by Vivaldi, Mozart's Requiem, Cherubini, Verdi's "Missa Solemnis" and the 9th Symphony of Beethoven, 8 Mahler's First Symphony, "Carmina Burana" Orff's "War Requiem" by Britten, the world premiere of the work K.Penderetskogo "Glory Holy Daniel, Duke of Moscow" and others. Many of them are written on the radio, on records and CDs. L.Kontorovich - the author of a number of original arrangements of works by Bach, Bellini, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Webber, Chopin and Tchaikovsky.

Conductor participated in international music festivals IS Bach in Germany, the International Boys Choir Festival in Grasse (France), Poznan (Poland), the European Festival of Orthodox Music, dedicated to the 1000th anniversary of Christianity in Russia (Moscow, Germany, France, Luxembourg). In 1995 he spoke at the European Symposium of Choral Music in Ljubljana (Slovenia). In August 2005, Lev Kontorovich appointed artistic director of the Bolshoi Choir of the State Musical teleradiotsentra. A talented musician keeps and develops the traditions of the outstanding teachers and predecessors - and K.B.Ptitsy L.V.Ermakovoy.
