Victor Pikaizen (Violin soloist)
Famous violinist was born February 15, 1933 in Kiev at musicians family. At the age of 6 he entered a Kiev Conservatoire School. His debut with a symphony orchestra had place when he was 9 years old, after that he began his solo performances.
In 1944 Pikaizen was listened by David Oistrakh. In 1946 young violinist became the pupil of celebrated master - at first at Gnesyns School and after that at conservatoire and post-graduate study. The creative character of V.Pikaizen was formed under the influence of this great artist.
Oistrakh did not mistake when he predicted the considerable future for his pupil. Pikaizen‘s following prizes at the most prestigious world competitions have confirmed it.
1949 - laureate of the Jan Kubelik Competition (Prague)
1955 - laureate of the Queen Elizabeth International competition (Brussels, Belgium);
1957 - laureate of the International competition Marguerite Long - Jacques Thibaud (Paris, France);
1958 - laureate of the Tchaikovsky International competition (Moscow) 1965 - laureate of the International Paganini competition (Genoa, Italy).
1969 - holder of the Grand-Prix awarded the French firm "Shan du monde" for Paganini‘s recordings.
Performs intensively at the best concert halls of Russia, England, France, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Japan etc.
Since 1957 he is a soloist of Moscow Philharmonia.
His vast repertoire includes Russian and foreign classical compositions, including music of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Grieg, Bartok, Tchaikovsky, Paganini, Wieniawski, Sibelius. The considerable part of his repertoire belongs to contemporary composers‘ works, especially to violin concertos of Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Khachaturyan, Khrennikov, Kabalevsky. B.Tchaikovsky.
1966 -1986 - taught at Moscow conservatoire.
