Dmitriy Belogolovtsev (Dancer)

Biography

Born in Lvov, Ukraine. He completed his studies at the Moscow College of Choreography (Alexander Bondarenko's class) and at the performers faculty of the Institute of Choreography (today College and Institute have been amalgamated into the Moscow Academy of Choreography). Since 2002, he has been a student at the choreographers faculty of the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts.
In 1992, he joined the Bolshoi Ballet Company. At the present time, he rehearses with Viktor Barykin.

In 2000, he danced one of the solo parts in Alexei Ratmansky's Dreams of Japan.

Tours

In 1997, he took part in a gala-concert of Russian ballet stars devoted to the Diaghilev 125th anniversary (New York) and in the international festival of classical ballet in Tokyo and Osaka.

Following his successful performance at the international competition in Jackson (1998), in which he took part together with Anna Antonicheva, one of his regular partners, he was invited to dance in the USA with Ballet Arlington, a company which is led by former Bolshoi Theatre soloist, Alexander Vetrov. Together with Antonicheva, he danced The Nutcracker (Alexander Vetrov's production). The then second leader of this Company, Paul Mejia, a former pupil of Balanchine, suggested to Antonicheva and Belogolovtsev that they dance the lead roles in his version of Romeo and Juliet to music by Tchaikovsky.

From 1997-2000, he took part on a regular basis in the international Stars of the 21st Century project, organized by the impresarios Nadia Veselova-Tencer and Solomon Tencer (these gala-concerts of ballet stars are held in major cities all over the world).

With Anna Antonicheva, he danced the lead roles in a Maryinsky Theatre production of Don Quixote (1998) and in Don Quixote and La Bayadere (1999) with the Kirghiz Theatre of Opera and Ballet (Bishkek).He has often participated in international ballet festivals in Yoshkar-Ola, Samara, Riga, Vilnius, Alma-Ata.

He has appeared in Latvian National Opera productions (Don Quixote, Swan Lake - with Anna Antonicheva), with Lithuanian National Opera (Don Quixote - the same partner), with Israel's National Ballet (Sleeping Beauty - again with Anna Antonicheva).

In 2005, he took part in the festival of Roland Petit Ballets in Tokyo - with the Asami Maki Ballet Company, he appeared in Notre Dame de Paris (his partner - Anna Antonicheva).

In 2004, he played one of the main roles in the Mayakovsky Theatre production of the comedy Love through the Eyes of A Detective, based on the Peter Shaffer play The Private Eye (director - Sergei Artsibashev, choreographer - Vyacheslav Gordeyev).

Awards

In 1993, he won the 3rd prize at the International Competition of Ballet Dancers, Moscow.
In 1998, he won the 2nd prize at the International Ballet Competition, Jackson (USA).
In 1998, he was awarded the title of Merited Artist of the Russian Federation.
In 2005, he was awarded the Ballet magazine Soul of Dance prize (Star nomination).
