When creating the oratorio, poems, plays, letters of poets, writers and philosophers of Ancient Rome and Greece, papyri, documents and graffiti (inscriptions from the walls) of ancient Rome, Pompeii and Greece, poems and poems of Lord George Byron, Joseph Brodsky, Ovid, Catullus, Marcial, Juvenal, letters from Seneca and Pliny the Younger.
Ilya Demutsky gained fame all over the world when, in 2016, he was awarded the European Film Academy Prize for the music to Kirill Serebrennikov's film The Pupil. Among his music for the drama theater are Kirill Serebrennikov's performances "(M) student" and "Who lives well in Russia." Demutsky commissioned the Bolshoi Theater to write the two-act ballet A Hero of Our Time (choreography by Yuri Possokhov, director Kirill Serebrennikov) based on the novel by Lermontov and the ballet Nureyev (choreography by Yuri Possokhov, director Kirill Serebrennikov).
In December 2019. the world premiere of the one-act ballet Gabrielle Chanel (choreography by Yuri Possokhov, director and libretto by Alexei Frandetti) was held with great success at the Bolshoi Theater and then in London.
