Stanislav Trofimov (Bass)

Stanislav Trofimov, began his operatic career at the Chelyabinsk Opera House in 2008, he then very quickly moved on to perform the leading bass roles at the Ekaterinburg Opera house, then the Bolshoi Theatre and other Opera Theatres in Russia. Since 2015, the “bushy bearded, epic sounding deep yet soft bass” has been frequently performing at the Mariinsky Theatre and in March 2016 became a soloist of this legendary theatre.

Some of his signature roles include the title and leading bass roles in: Boris Godunov, Philipp II in Don Carlos, Procida in I Vespri Siciliani, Fiesco in Simon Boccanegra, Konchak in Prince Igor, Ivan Susanin in Life for the Tsar, Sobakin in The Tsar’s Bride, Prince Yuri Vsevolodovich in The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevronia, Prince Gremin in Eugene Onegin, Ferrando in Il Trovatore, Don Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro, Old Hebrew in Samson and Dalila, among others.

“The outstanding example of perfect Russian Bass School”, Trofimov has performed on numerous occasions with maestro Valery Gergiev, Mariss Jansons, Tugan Sokhiev, Olga Borodina, Maria Guleghina, and Placido Domingo.

His international acclaim came after his tour as Archbishop in The Maid of Orleans on tour in France with the Bolshoi Theatre as well as various tours in Germany, Italy and China with maestro Gergiev. In 2017 he made his debut as Zaccharia in Nabucco at the Arena di Verona in a new production by Arnaud Bernard as well as at the Salzburg Festival as Priest in a new production of Lady Macbeth of Mzensk under the baton of Mariss Jansons.

Some recent highlights outside of the Mariinsky Theatre include the title role in Boris Godunov with the San Francisco Symphony under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas, Surin in Pique Dame under the baton of Mariss Jansons, and Nourabad in Les Pecheurs des Perles opposite Placido Domingo and Xavier Camarena at the Salzburg Festival, a role debut as Sparafucile in Rigoletto with the Luxembourg Philharmonie in Theatre Champs Elysees in Paris and in Luxembourg, Sobakin in The Tsar’s Bride at the Bolshoi Theatre, and Bruckner F-Minor Messe with the Bayerische Rundfunk and Mariss Jansons in Munich.
