Vasily Valitov (Conductor)

Vasily Valitov was born in 1976 in Moscow. He began studying music at the age of five, performing in an ensemble of young violinists. In 1994 he graduated from the Central Special Music School at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory.

He graduated from the Opera and Symphony Conducting Department of the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (class of Prof. L. Nikolaev), attended master classes of the American maestro James Judd, and was trained by the renowned conductors Fuat Mansurov and Wolfgang Scheidt.

Since 2001 until present he has been the artistic director and chief conductor of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Russia. From 2008 to 2010 he worked as chief conductor at the Astrakhan State Opera and Ballet Theater.

In 2009, the Directorate of the Symphony Orchestra of Russia invited the young maestro to serve as guest conductor at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow. "While listening to Vasily Valitov perform, one is struck by the combination of wisdom and youthful ambitions in his work. We dare only to guess about the nature of his talent. One thing is certain: in front of us is a real Russian orchestra conductor, a successor to the great musical tradition" wrote Kul’ture newspaper. After such success, Vasily became a permanent guest conductor at the Symphony Orchestra of Russia.

Since 2004, Valitov has been the artistic director at the Music of Children's Hearts cultural and social project. In the frames of this project over 300 concerts were held in such concert spaces as the Great Hall of Moscow State Conservatory, the Moscow Philharmonic, the Moscow International House of Music, the Hall of the Order of St. George in the Grand Kremlin Palace, the Hall of Church Councils of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, and other famous concert halls.

Since 2004 until present Vasily Valitov is the artistic director of an International Music Festival “Talents of Commonwealth”.

Under the leadership of Valitov, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Russia has successfully toured Qatar (2004) and France (2006, 2008, and 2012), where the conductor was awarded the grand prize for the performance artistry of high level.

Vasily has collaborated with the Symphony Orchestra of the Ryazan State Philharmonic Society (2006), the State Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan (2007), the Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Kalmykia (2009), the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Philharmonic Society (2010), the Nekrasov Russian Folk Instrument Orchestra of the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (2011), the Symphony Orchestra of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic (Poland, 2007), the Symphony Orchestra of Bordeaux (France), the Madrid Symphony Orchestra (Spain, 2012) and others. He is a permanent guest conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Russia.

Since 2010 he has been the conductor of the New Opera Moscow Theater. He has performed Tristan Und Isolde by R. Wagner; Prince Igor by Borodin and amongst many others (more 20 operas)


In 2014 V. Valitov became one of the threefinalists of the International Conducting Competition of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra in Rio de Janeiro.

Since 2013 Valitov has served as a guest conductor of Moscow State Academic Syphony Orchestra.

Since 2013 Valitov has served as a guest conductor of Seto Philharmonic in Kagawa (Japan, Kagawa)

Since 2014 Valitov has been a permanent guest conductor of the Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after Musa Jalil.

Since 2014 Valitov serves as the Principal guest conductor of the Mahler Philharmoniker Wien (Vienna, Austria)

Since 2016, he became Chief Conductor of the CIS Youth Symphony Orchestra (Community of independent States).

Since 2016 Valitov has been the artistic director of the international Austrian-Russian project Vienna-Moscow Music Academy, the institutor and artistic director of the Russian-Austrian summer music school in Bregenz (Austria).
